The George Washington is placed in the Village of Warton, long associated with the Washington family who lived here. Washington's ancestor of seven generations, Lawrence Washington, is rumoured to have helped build the village church of St Oswald. The George Washington is a village inn popular with the locals who give you a warm welcome and have a good selection of cask ales. Set at the foot of Warton Crag and handy for Leighton Hall and Leighton Moss Bird Sanctuary. The pub itself has historical connections with George Washington, historical President of the USA. The coastal villages of Silverdale and Arnside are a short drive away and we are only five minutes away from the M6 Carnforth will forever be famous for being the film location for the David Lean's classic film 'Brief Encounter'.
